Welcome back 🙂

Today I’m sharing a card with you that I’ve made using Stampin’ Up!’s Happy Celebrations Stamp Set, & Stitched Shape Framelits Dies. You can find this new & exciting stamp set in the current Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalogue for 2017.

***Updated 03.03.2017*** Exciting news!! This card was in the top picks for the Fab Friday #106 colour challenge. While it wasn’t number 1 & the Fab Fave pick, it did make it into the Fab Four, Yay!!

Happy Celebrations Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!

The Happy Celebrations stamp set is easy to use & it makes me feel happy & playful when I’m creating cards with it. I’ve used this stamp set a few times now & I can honestly say that it’s perfect for both guys & gal’s. You can do a little…. or a lot with it, & the end results are still striking. So when I saw the colour combination on the Fab Friday challenge page, I knew it was the perfect set to use.

Now I have to be honest & say that I personally, probably wouldn’t have thought of putting these colours together; But gee I’m glad the Design Team over at Fab Friday did. It’s bright, cheerful & fun! I think it’s one that I might have to use again in the future.

As you can see my card appears to dark & light versions of each of the 4 colours on it. I’ve used a technique called “Stamping Off” to give me variations of each particular colour. It also makes stamping a card like this a little quicker as I’m not re-inking my stamp after each use.

Technique How to: Stamping Off

1]   Ink a stamp.
2]   Stamp the image.
3]   Restamp the image one or more times without re-inking it. This technique is a great way to get several shades of colour from a single ink pad.

QUICK TIP: Use Stampin’ Off to simulate movement on your card.

To keep the fun “confetti” look going I decided to use the circle framelits dies from the Stitched Shapes set. I think the stitching creates a “finished” look without the need for lots of layers.

I heat embossed one of the sentiments from the stamp set onto the Bermuda Bay circle using Versamark, Whisper White Stampin’ Emboss Powder & my heat tool.

I then stamped a bigger & bolder sentiment, along with another smaller sentiment, inside the card itself using Peekaboo Peach ink. To give it a bit more oopmh! I’ve also heat embossed both the inside sentiments this time using clear embossing powder.

  1. Hi Katrina,
I think you very well rocked the challenge! I love the way you combined the circles and some layers of card stock for a great card! And for not being sure of these colors, you embraced them with boldness. Way to go!
I’m so glad you chose to play along at Fab Friday!

  2. The colours do look great together but it is the fun dots that I really like. The stamp technique is clever for those like me with a limited pallet of ink colours. Thanks for sharing and inspiring – I am hoping for lots of wet weekends to be able to stay home and stamp 😁
