Celebrating Love & Weddings – Stampin’ Up!

Kylie's International Blog Highlight April 2017

11.04.2017 Celebrate Card 03

Welcome back :-),

Today I wanted to share with you a card that I made specifically for Kylie Bertucci’s April International Blog Highlight.

11.04.2017 Celebrate Card

The theme for this month was Weddings, which is kind of appropriate, as my brother & his fiance are getting married later this year. So I’ve been busy looking at lots of pretty things & helping them work out how to make their own invitations, table settings & gifts.

My creation was inspired by a recent search on Pinterest……

                    11.04.2017 Wedding Mood Board 01

(I wish it had been around when I got married….but that was almost 18yrs ago, & we barely had internet, it was dial up I think? lol! We did however make all of our own wedding invitations & stationery, using a bubble jet printer……it’s an antique now!)

…….Sorry, I got a little off track there, now lets get back to my card…

It’s pretty simple & straight forward. I’m a big fan of the less is more approach & find that the results often have a classic, timeless feel to them, which is exactly what I want when giving someone a card that they will probably keep forever.

How To:

I’ve given my card front & sentiment banner a light watercolour wash using Flirty Flamingo. (You can see how I’ve been able to achieve a nice Ombre effect by using this technique).

Once it had dried completely, I used the retiring Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, to stamp little, clear Versamark confetti style dots, over the top half of the card.

I then added some Gold Embossing Powder, which I heat set using a heat tool. The results are lovely, delicate, gold sparkles, all over my card. Very very pretty!

While I was heat embossing, I stamped the word ‘Celebrate’ from the Happy Celebrations stamp set in clear Versamark ink & again used Gold embossing powder to give it a beautiful, lustrous finish.

I mounted my watercolour washed paper to a Shimmery White card base.

From there, I added some of the retiring Gold Satin ribbon which is held down with doubled sided Tear’n’Tape.

To create the banner, I punched one end of my sentiment using the Banner Triple punch. I added some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of it to raise it up a bit & give it more impact.

The final touch was a Gold Faceted gem. It’s just perfect!! These gems are brand NEW to Stampin’ Up! & can be found in the upcoming NEW Annual Catalogue from June 1st….

If however you are a little bit besotted with them, like I am, & can’t wait until June 1st, I can help you. Just leave me a comment or send me an email asking me how you can get your hands on them earlier……

Do you LIKE or LOVE my card? If you answered YES to either, then I’d LOVE it if you could VOTE for me. Simply click on the vote button & you should be taken directly to the page where you can see everyone’s entries.

Once you are there just tap the top right hand corner of the picture of my card to place your vote. Thank you :-).

Much Love, K xo

    1. Hi Melissa, thank you for your lovely comment 😊. I’ve never used Gorgeous Grunge for embossing before either… so now I’m extra sad that it’s going to retiring. It’s definitely going to be a set I hold onto for my own use. Much Love, Katrina xo
